Amelia and Sam, two of our Couture Wedding Films Directors, tied the knot during a destination wedding of dreams in September 2022. Amelia and Sam hosted a week long celebration out in Crete.

A second home to both of them, Crete has a very special place in their hearts, and especially the seaside town of Almyrida, near the old city of Chania.

Amelia and Sam’s brief was very simple; capture the relaxed, fun and joyful celebration we have planned. Focus on friends, family and, of course, the amazing setting. 

The wedding day itself took place at ‘Koumos’ in the town of Kalyves. Guests arrived on a land train before being shown to their seats for the ceremony, which was taking place in the family olive grove adjacent to Koumos. Simple decor using olive branches and traditional Greek pots, suited the rustic grove setting which looked out over the sea beyond. Guests were then shown into Koumos and encouraged to explore the crazy setting. Traditional Cretan plates were served down the long informal tables for dinner, and greek dancers arrived to get the party started. 

Plate smashing, a tradition at greek weddings, surprised the guests, and once the band arrived, everyone danced until the early hours of the morning. 

Due to the wedding not starting until 5pm because of the heat, Amelia and Sam chose to have a second couples shoot the next day. This took place on Almyrida Rock, a favourite location of the bride and groom. These informal, romantic images are some of our favourites. The bride's family also came along and our photographer captured some beautiful memories to last a lifetime.
